I love the painting but i dont understand who in their right mind would sit there and make a painting of the declaraction of independence being made. lol..

Very funny. If you ever get a chance to watch the HBO Miniseries "John Adams" there's a side story about that painting. It was a reconstruction of the event. Adams complains about how the painting didn't match the reality.
Looking at the painting he said there was almost never a time when all the delegates were there together. That certain people would never sit near each other and that anyone would look relaxed! They were all signing on to a death sentence if the Revolution didn't work!!!
